Learning Outside the Classroom (Including Forest School)

Learning Outside the Classroom

At Timu Academy Trust, we believe that outdoor learning is a vital part of the development of every child and, as a result, should be a part of all teachers’ professional practice. We use outdoor learning when it best suits the curriculum and the intended learning – it isn’t a once a week, separately timetabled and somehow extra to any other learning. It is an integral part of many of our curriculum areas.

Learning outside the classroom ensures all children are exposed to a wealth of experiences from which they can build their learning and understanding of the world around them

We are very lucky to have extensive grounds across our Trust including:

  • A purpose developed Forest School area
  • A wellbeing garden
  • A pond and nature area
  • Outdoor huts

These areas are used by staff to enhance the curriculum on offer at Timu Academy Trust.
